Dodgers Unable to Shoot Down Cardinals

Dodgers continue their shaky starts as Kershaw (just ONE K this time) was unable to hold the Cards on Thursday. He was pulled after just 4.1 innings of work. However, he gave up 5 runs (4 earned) off of 8 hits, walking 3 (season-high) and striking out one lowly birdy. Offense (minus Ethier who belted his 15th homer & secured his name as All-Star after the game) was also unable to make their mark. Cardinals had RBIs from 6 of the players in their line-up. Dodgers just couldn’t get it together. Carpenter is now a lifetime 6-0 against the Dodgers.

Was anyone else surprised to see Sherrill on the mound last night? Hadn’t he been waivered?! I felt lost and confused. Two feelings not too happy feeling.

Today, Billingsley is sent to the mound against Jaime Garcia. Hoping the Dodgers finally show up to play today, it’ll take pitching and defense to win this ball game against the surging Cardinals. Unfortunately, that is all I have for today. I will be scoring tonight’s game. Hoping to make it a good one! Remember to get your tickets to Loney’s Bobblehead night! See ya there 😉 & Arriba Los Doyers!

Until next time,

Kershaw & Furcal on Fire

Kershaw delivered a magnificent performance tonight as pitched 8 innings earning 2 runs off 7 hits, walking NONE and he struck out 12 Cubbies (13 is his career high). This start around, he got the W thanks to Big John closing out the 9th and getting the save. (Let’s not recall that Broxton blew 4 of Kershaw’s W’s last season & he blew the Yankee game on 6/27 which was another Kershaw start). Regardless of that, Dodgers were able to pull out the W. Backing up Kershaw’s amazing pitching was the bat of Red-Hot Rafael “Fuego” Furcal! Raffy went 3-for-3, (Single, Double, HR) shy of hitting for the cycle, stole a base & secured Kershaw the W when he hit a 2-run BOMB. Again, tell me why this man is not in the All Star game?? When the American League is packed with power hitters, why are we not packing our team with pitching AND hitting?? I personally voted 100 times (4 different emails) and each 100 times it was for Raffy. Did he get on the team? No. Regardless, I think Furcal has given great performances day after day especially coming off from his difficult month of June. After mentioning his tough time dealing with the loss of his father, he said his father would’ve wanted him to play and play well. This man plays for the Love of the Game & he’s an All-Star in my eyes. I suggest he plays the song by Fuego called Super Estrella (Super Star) from now on, even though I love his current at-bat song “Chambonea” by Omega. =D and if you’re wondering, Raffy is my all-time favorite Dodger. He’s been with the club since I’ve been a fan. I hope he stays with them because he deserves to be playing every day like he should be.

All Star Weekend starting tomorrow. I will be going to Fan Fest in Anaheim convention center tomorrow with a fellow baseball fan (however, he is a Yankees’ fan eek!) Should be good times. My first time going. I will definitely take plenty of pictures!

Starting line up for the NL All Star team is:

C: Yadier Molina (STL)
1B: Albert Pujols (STL)
2B: Chase Utley (PHI)
SS: Hanley Ramirez (FLA)
3B: David Wright (NYM)
OF: Ryan Braun (MIL)
OF: Andre Ethier (LAD)
OF: Jason Heyward (ATL)

Representing the Dodgers will also be Broxton on the pitching staff. Torre will manage the NL league & he looks to battle the AL power hitters with big-time pitching with the likes of Carpenter, Halladay, Jimenez, Lincecum, and Wainwright to name a few. It should be a great game and if you’re not planning on watching it, you’d regret it!

Friday’s probables: Billingsley set to take the mound against Ted Lilly. Bills, after coming off a rough April and the injured list, has been pitching better and with more confidence. Pitch count gets high, but he has only allowed a total of 3 runs in his last two starts. A very happy birthday to my twitter friends @DodgerGirl_86 @dodgerdaisy & @AYE_DREE_AN who will be in LFP for tonight’s game to celebrate!

Until next time,

♥Nomar

NomarNomar, Nomar, Nomar! What can I say about him?? I will begin this entry
with my story of his bobblehead SGA day:

NG Bobblehead

4/26/2007: I had purchased my most expensive tickets to date: $80 a piece
in 38 FD. I wanted to be as close to Nomar that day so he’d hear me yell
his name & proclaim my love for him lol. Of course, I had to invite
Chris. He of course accepted. Since I bought both tickets, he drove.
Let me preface the next part by saying there are many ways to get to
Dodger Stadium. I didn’t know it then, but I can make my way around
Elysian Park quite expertly now. Freeways, side streets, shortcuts,
traffic. You must calculate all this into your route and time schedule.
My dear friend Chris decides to take the following: 710 N, off on Cesar
Chavez all the way to Dodger Stadium….at 5:30pm on a giveaway day.
Needless to say, we didn’t arrive before the first pitch. We didn’t
arrive for the first inning. We didn’t arrive until the 3rd & of
course, bobbleheads were gone by then. I was sooo upset. I listen to
games on the radio all the time, but never when I’m on my way. I always
have to get there to watch the first pitch or be in the stadium by the
first pitch. I didn’t get my bobblehead. It was a good game and seats
were awesome. I still never let Chris forget it!

The next month, a year after introducing me to the Dodgers, Chris
invites me to his yearly family Dodger game. His entire family (20+ at
least) all attend a game in one of the pavilions. It was my first time
in AYCE RF Pav. While waiting in line for food, he disappears randomly.
Being that so many people were there, I couldn’t see him. He comes back
with a bag. In the bag is my very own Nomar bobblehead & a Cinco de Mayo Nomar pin
(the day of my first game). He definitely made it up, but I wish we both
would’ve gotten that bobblehead for free =(

I most likely will be seeing Chris and his family this Saturday during
their pre-game bbq. He wanted me to mention our bet. If Nomar hit a
homer while we both were at a game, I would give Chris a kiss. Nomar never hit one
when we were there LOL.

And this is Chris & I (wow, blonde hair. Kind of miss it =/) in RF Pavilion when he bought me my Nomar Bobblehead
Remy & LilyTomorrow’s Game: Looking for the big money, Dodgers send Bills (6-3, 3.80) to open the Freeway Series at home against Pineiro (4-6, 5.23) & the Halos. We last saw Bills on the 5th of June where he gave up 3 ER in the win to the Braves. His ERA is slightly higher at home. Let’s hope he gives us a good game.
